The beginning
A leap of faith
Our story began with a bold leap of faith. An ambitious young engineer, driven by a passion for design and a vision to transform how Australians experience furniture, left his job to pursue a dream. Starting with our first store in Richmond, that dream quickly grew, resonating across the country.
Guided by a commitment to quality, innovation, and exceptional service, we’ve redefined what it means to make a house a home. Today, our galleries embody the vision at the heart of Koala Living: elevating everyday living.

As Koala Living evolves, we remain dedicated to enriching Australian homes. In 2022, we began transforming our showrooms into galleries— spaces where design and luxury come together. With 16 galleries and counting, each offers a curated experience, showcasing timeless pieces that inspire and help you reimagine your space.
Inspiration is at the heart of every Koala Living gallery. As you step inside, arched pathways guide you through carefully curated spaces where each piece tells its own story. The air is infused with our signature fragrance, a subtle touch that invites calm and curiosity. Soft neutral tones create a serene backdrop, allowing the design and character of our furniture to shine. Every gallery is designed to spark ideas and help you imagine how timeless pieces can become part of your home.

2024Industry Leaders: Koala Living’s New HQ and 16 Galleries to Redefine High-End Furniture
We have just moved into our new office headquarters “the collaborative HQ” and opened our new distribution centre in Melbourne, Altona. With currently 16 galleries around Australia, Koala Living has become an industry leader in exceptional and high-end furniture, decors and design. We look forward to transforming more spaces and continual growth.
2007AGAINST ALL ODDS, OUR UNSTOPPABLE GROWTH:
With humble beginnings, we start selling furniture on eBay and delivering sofas on our roof racks! As we earn our place in the furniture market, the global financial crisis hits however we make it through.
2008Breaking Ground on Bridge Road: Koala Livings First Showroom & Employee!
We start gaining some traction from customers and we have landed our first showroom in the progressive design hub that is Bridge Road in Richmond. As well as the first ever Koala Living employee, Judy!
2010BEYOND THE ROOF RACK; OUR FIRST SHOWROOM AT THE HOMEMAKER CENTRE
Now offering more than just a few products, we have landed our first showroom at the Homemaker Centre in South Wharf and our small family has grown into 8 staff members. Also, we can no longer deliver on roof racks.
2012A TURNING POINT
Enter, the Vanilla Chair. This chair was a milestone that changed the way we thought about our furniture and the reason for a pivot in the right direction. We delved deeper into our niche by refining and honing into on our own designs.
2017A Decade of Growth: Expansions and New Beginnings
It's our ten year anniversary and it has been quite a big year for us so far, we have vastly expanded our product range and with demand growing rapidly, we open our very first distribution centre in Altona, Melbourne as well as our first official website. With a passion to grow and inspire, we took the brave step into the Sydney market.
2019A National Presence:
With 11 showrooms across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, over 100 employees and delivery all across Australia, it is safe to say we achieved our vision. We have opened our first showroom in Logan, QLD.
2022Koala Living Takes on the Capital: 12th Gallery Opens in Fyshwick!
We are excited to announce the opening of our 12th showroom in Australia, located in Fyshwick. With the lockdowns behind us in Melbourne, we have started transforming our showrooms into galleries and we have renovated our space in Maribyrnong. Additionally, we've opened distribution centers in both NSW and QLD.

COLLABORATION HQ
In 2024, we moved into our new Melbourneheadquarters, the Collaboration HQ. Designed as a hub for teamwork, it brings together creativity, strategy, and expertise from all departments.
Koala Living acknowledges the traditional owners and custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We acknowledge the Bunurong people, on whose lands our head office is located, as well as all other First Nation Countries on which we operate our business across. We would also like to pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
