Ochre Summit explores the Australian landscape through a collection of individual marks that come together to form a larger sense of place. Scattered brushstrokes echo the irregular textures and patterns of Country. Up close, the marks appear fragmented and spontaneous. As the viewer steps back, they begin to reveal the contours of hills and mountain forms. The work plays with the relationship between detail and distance, inviting the viewer to shift their perspective and discover the landscape within the marks. Through ochre tones, texture and movement, Ochre Summit reflects the interconnected nature of Country, where each element contributes to the greater landscape.
Colours of the Earth
The Ochre Summit Painting moves through warm ochre, clay, and sand toned hues,. Lighter forms rise through the surface like quiet ridges of earth, giving the piece a natural rhythm that echoes landscapes shaped over time.
A Quiet Reverence
Its abstract composition carries a sense of stillness and significance, where circular forms and flowing textures feel almost ceremonial in their arrangement.
Koala Living acknowledges the traditional owners and custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We acknowledge the Bunurong people, on whose lands our head office is located, as well as all other First Nation Countries on which we operate our business across. We would also like to pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
